New Award...New Album...New Band...what else!Hey Everyone! A new blog post is much needed as I haven't written in a very long time. I know many of you have written in asking for updates, so I hope I can take this time to share with you all what is new! First Song Done! ...and more
Hey Everyone! So, I just got back from from the studio. My producer Brett and I put together the finishing touches on the first song to my upcoming album. It sounds so great. I can't tell you how accomplished you feel when a song you created has been turned into a finished product! I really have a great time with Brett and he is so fabulous. I can't wait to get working on the rest. 1 down, 9 to go!
On a different note, Amanda Martindale and I have just solidified our production schedule for our duo project. I will be balancing both my solo and duo projects while maintaining a full time job over the next couple months...Aghhh! Needless to say, I will be very busy. However, when you are doing what you love, it doesn't feel like work. I couldn't be more excited! The Moment Is Finally Here...
So, tonight is the big night...the night I have been anticipating for quite some time...the Nashville Star Premiere. It wasn't that long ago, Amanda and I were performing at Room 5 in Los Angeles, when members of Nashville Star surprised us with an envelope Congratulating us on going to Nashville! I would be flown to Nashville soon after and audition in front of the judges for the chance to be on the show.
I was estatic! I don't know if I was more excited to make it as far as I did...or the fact I was going to meet one of my idols, John Rich.....???? The trip to Nashville and all the events surrounding it has to be one of the best memories I have ever experienced in my musical career. I recall being on the Nashville Star bus as it pulled up to the studios in Nashville, how blessed I felt to be amoung the final contenders for one of country musics biggest shows. I had to pinch myself several times to make sure I wasn't dreaming. I had to keep telling myself throughout the trip that this is a television show, moreso than a talent show. They are looking for people with stories moreso than talent. I had to keep reminding myself this because if I didn't make the show, it wasn't that I was any less talented than those they'd choose. It is because they fit the mold the producers and network need to make a complete show. Knowing this, it kept me humble and appreciative for every moment I was there. As it turns out, I didn't make the top 10 for the show. However, I made it closer than a heck of a lot of people and for that, I am truly grateful. The emotional rollercoaster one takes through this kind of process is unlike anything I've ever been through. If I am fortunate to be on the season premiere tonight, I only hope they showcase my sincerity and real emotions. Yes, there were a few tears on camera, but I am not ashamed. Those were true feelings and having the chance to show America who I am, I wouldn't take back those tears for anything. So, here I sit...nervous to see what they show tonight on NBC. I pray that my friends and family get a chance to see me on television as they have all been so supportive and loving for my entire career. It would be nice for them to celebrate a moment that means so much to me. If it turns out that for some reason I am not on the premiere, I will feel a little guilty having everyone watch only to find they edited me out. However, at least they can get a chance to see all the amazing things that I got to experience through this process. I've made friends with some of this seasons cast and they are all so talented. I think you are in for a real treat this season. Best wishes to everyone who auditioned and made it to the level they did with the show. What an amazing ride! First Quarter 2008 and beyond...Hi Everyone! Can you believe we have already surpassed the first quarter of 2008? We are heading into May, and already I have had a fantastic year. There are several things that I cannot mention until a later date. However, 2008 has proven to be one of the most pivotal years in my music career.
I have been writing new songs like crazy and performing several times a month around Los Angeles. I have been working on a duo project with fellow country singer / songwriter, Amanda Martindale. Additionally, I have made a couple visits to Nashville this year and plan on making a couple more. As you can see, my website is undergoing major enhancements. We will be posting new photos, links and most importantly NEW MUSIC! Yeay! So, keep checking back. Don't forget to sign up on my friends list if you haven't already. Happy May! |
